Custom Engraved or Carved Wood Boxes
Engraved Memento Box
This is the interior of a custom made box I made for a client who wanted a box to contain some precious belongings of his deceased wife to give to their daughter for her wedding. There are extensive engravings on the top and inside of the box, with inlaid butterflies on top, and custom fitted openings for a hand mirror and other items. I can use several different techniques to custom fit objects into boxes. Here a shaped opening for the object was routed, and flocked -covered with an adhered powdered fabric that produces a soft felt like surface
Cartier Box
This was a commission for a costly piece of Cartier jewelry, and the client wanted a nicer box than that supplied by the jewelers. The inside of the custom ebony box is engraved with his wife's name, with Cartier inlaid in satinwood inside. Not to be outdone, the wife's monogram is inlaid into the top.
Carved Celtic Box
This custom box is walnut with what I refer to as a landscape bookmatch on top, and Celtic knot work type carving on the lid and sides.
Custom Engraved Jewelry Box
This bird's-eye maple custom made box is carved with the client's son's business logo. A box like this can be made for about $350.

Ebonized and Carved Box
This box is made from ebonized walnut, with carved text and logo finished with a faux silver leaf. This technique produces very sharply defined text or other graphics at a reasonable price.

Carved Church Box
Commissioned by a loyal Russian orthodox Church member to contain ceremonial oils, this sapele box is carved and pigmented with imitation gold leaf.
It took a few tries to get an accurate enough file to capture the coptic text, with a few frustrating attempts to get an actual font created version finally giving way to a good PDF. Inside dividers were customized to hold containers of the three oils. A box like this can be made for around $500. With through dovetail construction the box is built for the ages.
