Jatoba, also known as Brazilian cherry,( although the wood
really has nothing to do with cherry; it doesn't even look like cherry),
is a dense, hard and very attractive Brazilian hardwood, that is readily
available in the US these days, even often finding it's way into flooring.
I use it in cutting boards for a reddish color in amish quilt, weathervane,
and small rail fence.
