Alhambra Collectors Box
My collectors boxes are somewhat of a holdover from my wholesaling days, when all my work was sold through galleries. They're beautiful little boxes whose feel and precision is best experienced in person. The tops are end grain laminations, crosscuts off a complex laminated block , painstakingly glued up component by component. They're great for small items like jewelry or paper clips. They're also great gifts for collectors of boxes.

Alhambra Collectors Box
This open shot allows you to see how the patterned top is solid, so
it shows on the inside of the lid when the box is open. This
little keepsafe box is
hinged with stealthy brass hinges and has tiny
matching magnets in front to lightly hold the top closed. M.C. Escher was inspired to his life's work by this pattern

Dutch Treat Collectors Box
Delicate pastel colors shine forth from the end grain lid of this maple cased box. Pink ivorywood (one of the world's most valuable) paired with Brazilian satinwood, and Brazilian tulipwood corners. Yes, these are the natural colors of the wood! This beautiful little box has a playful, feminine feel.

Roman Tile Collectors Box
When I was focused on ancient mosaics I spent hours pouring over pattern books, and was struck by this simple Roman design. The end grain panel in this box lid is made from Brazilian satinwood, ebony, red oak, purpleheart, holly, chacte-koc, cherry and wenge. Very close tolerance work here, with a nifty radius cut forming the cherry 4 point stars. The case of this box is made from bubinga. A very special little box.

Spalted Maple Collectors Box
Spalting occurs when dead wood is attacked by certain decay fungi. As the fungus moves through the wood, the "front" of the assault appears as a black line, and often different zones of color are left behind. The book-matched end grain pairs of spalted maple create evocative organic or landscape like compositions, framed in wenge. The case is figured maple. These are all one-of-a-kind.

Spalted Maple Collectors Box
Because the tops are made from solid end-grain wood you can see the pattern on both the top and the inside. The spalted maple bookmatch won't be perfect on the interior. All the collectors boxes are lined with a black velvet pad, and finished with hand rubbed tung oil and varnish, followed by a buffing with carnauba wax for a lustrous finish.

Tulipwood Collectors Box
Book-matched slices of Brazilian tulipwood, the lightest of the rosewoods, and maybe the most distinctively beautiful end grain in the world. Brazilian tulipwood end grain in a wenge field, with holly accent in cherry end grain frame, set into a cherry case.
